Dr. Rick Diehl
Dr. Diehl graduated with honors form the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He completed a General Practice Residency at Lakeside Veteran’s Administration Medical Center and Northwestern School of Dentistry in Chicago, Illinois. He then came to Minneapolis to complete his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at the University of Minnesota.
After completing his residency, Dr. Diehl worked in private practice for a year and then returned to the University of Minnesota. For three and a half years Dr. Diehl was an Assistant Professor in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, serving as Clinic Director as well as Director of Undergraduate Studies. His teaching responsibilities included predoctural and graduate students, as well as lecturing on a regional and national level.
Dr. Diehl has special interests including office based surgical procedures, office anesthesia (his wife is an anesthetist and always willing to provide advice) and management of hard and soft tissues in conjunction with dental implants. Dr. Diehl is actively involved in organized dentistry; he has served on the Executive Committee of the Minneapolis District Dental Society for a number of years, is Vice-Chairman of the District Peer Review Committee and has served as a District Delegate at State House of Delegates. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons; he maintains active membership in the American Dental Association, Minnesota Dental Association, Minneapolis District Dental Society and the American Dental Society of Anesthesia. In addition, he volunteers his time to Sharing and Caring Hands Dental Clinic and Donated Dental Services.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Diehl enjoys an active life style. He has been involved in competitive bicycle racing for many years, competing in both road and off-road races. In the winter for many years he has trained and competed in cross-country ski races and for the last two years has enjoyed becoming a more proficient downhill skier along with his daughter. Favorite travel destinations include the desert southwest and the Rocky Mountains. He, his wife, and daughter reside in Minnetonka, Minnesota.
